Ultimate Rest

Hello out there,

After spending almost the complete first week of our trip through South Africa in Cape Town, I was ready to get out of the crowded city and into nature. So we headed to Mossel Bay, a small town that marks the start of the famous Garden Route along the countries eastern coast. Luckily we managed to get a nice holiday apartment on short notice, which was just next to the beach. But since we arrived late in the evening, we did not see that much of the surrounding and could only hear the waves crashing against the shore. Therefore we went to bed early, to discover the area early the next morning.

As soon as the sun was up, we headed to the Cape Saint Blaize, where the big waves from the open sea hit the rocky coast. To get a better view over of the cape, I climbed up the cliffs and found an abandoned hiking path going right next to the coastline out of the city. This was just what I needed after Cape Town and so we decided to follow the path to the next village.

Already a couple of minutes after we started, it felt like being in the middle of nowhere and surprisingly we did not meet any other hikers. As we were already walking for about two hours or so, we came by a bench wonderfully located on top of the cliff, from where we had a perfect view down the coast. Of course, we used this opportunity for a rest and to enjoy the view.

But before we headed on again, I wanted to capture this unique spot in a photograph. So I stepped back a bit and got down on my knees, to include the foreground in my field of view. Then I just pressed the shutter.
