Historic Shopping
Hello out there,
For me, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the most fascinating places in the Italian fashion capital of Milan. It seems like the center of the building underneath the large glass dome, is also the center of the whole city. Equidistant from all four entrances, which spread out into each compass direction, probably everybody passes through here somehow. Whether a tourist discovering the city, a businessman heading to work or a local shopping in the exquisite stores to either side.
Due to its excellent location right next to the cathedral and the opera, we came through the Galleria several during our stay. Of course, did I use most of our visits to capture the magnificence of the building and what was going on inside with my camera. One of the visits I especially kept in mind, since it was during the perfect time of the day.
My plan actually was, to head to the central square for the approaching sunset, since I wanted to capture some photos of the cathedral covered in the golden light. But as I came through the Galleria, the low hanging sun wonderfully illuminated the structure of the glass dome and the upper facade in the center of the building. So I got out my camera earlier than anticipated and positioned myself on the other side of the illuminated facade. Then I focused on a painting, which was wonderfully lit by the setting sun and just pressed the shutter.
