Hello out there,

While discovering a city, I like to wander through streets a bit of the touristic or commercial center. This way I often come across some hidden treasures of a place, which are usually just as interesting and pretty, as tourisy sights, but by far not as crowded. This makes the discovery of a city much more enjoyable and authentic. But of course, it is not always rewarded with success. More often than not, I just find boring prefab estates or dirty side streets.

A very successful walk I, fortunately, had in Metz, which is a midsize French city near the German border. After spending some time in its center, I decided to head off into the surrounding neighborhoods and followed the signs into the direction of the main train station. On the way, I crossed a nice avenue with magnificent city estates on either side and decided to follow it westwards all the way to the river Mosel. Along the river, I then found a nice grass verge, where I took a look around until I decided to head back into the center. On this path, I then came across some historic buildings, which looked a bit like being in the wrong place.

The size and arrangement of the buildings were very unusual for such a big city and reminded me more of a midcentury village square. The roads were very narrow and planted with a lot of trees. Since the place looked so interesting, I wanted to capture it and pulled out my camera. The view down the road with buildings on one and some trees on the other side was the view I decided on since it provided a very authentic feeling. After I seting up the camera, I then just had to press the shutter.
