Shady Valley
Hello out there,
A highlight of my trip through Iran was a visit to the Kurdistan region in the far west of the country along the Iraqi border. I was honestly not one hundred percent sure if the security situation was as unproblematic as in the rest of the country. But I decided to give it a try and just took the bus to the provincial capital Kermanshah, where all worries turned out to be unfounded.
After spending here one day to discover the city, I headed on to the lovely town of Paveh in the mountains, for which I got a couple of recommendations during my trip. Since I arrived late in the afternoon, I just walked a bit through the streets to get in touch with the local people. Afterward, I went to bed relatively early, since I had planned a hike up one of the mountains the next morning for sunrise.
Accordingly, did my alarm clock go off, as it was still pretty dark. At the beginning of my hike I also needed a flashlight, but soon the morning dawn provided enough light so that I could find my way up.
After I arrived at the peak, I had a wonderful view over Paveh in the valley, which was still covered in shade, while the mountains on the opposite side were already hit with the first light of the day. This was exactly the scene I had in mind when thinking of a perfect sunrise in the mountains and so I pulled out my camera. I decided to include both, the dark and the light side of the valley, in my photograph and accordingly alighend my camera to the scene. Then I just had to press the shutter.
