Purple City

Hello out there,

It was my last morning in Vancouver, that I decided to take a walk along the promenade and through Stanley Park until my flight back home was leaving in the early afternoon. For the past two weeks, I tried to discover as much of the western Canadian metropolis as possible and almost every day walked through some part of the city or the surrounding nature. On my last day, I just wanted to have a relaxing walk, before I would be sucked in a plane for a couple of hours and therefore headed to the promenade and the park, where I could have the best that Vancouver has to offer, city life and nature.

As I arrived at Canada Place, next to the bay, the sun started to rise, but since the whole sky was covered in clouds and I did not really notice it that much. So kept walking along the shore, as suddenly the sky started to get a purple tint and the glass facade of the skyscrapers in front of me wonderfully reflected it.

Since I could feel, that this fascinating play of light was probably not lasting very long, I got my camera out to capture it. Instantly I knew, how I wanted the image to look like and imagined, that incorporating the stainless steel railings of the promenade into the frame, would perfectly match the modern buildings in the background. So I set up my camera on the tripod, since it was still pretty dark, and just pressed the shutter.
