Maintained Craftmanship
Hello out there,
In many parts of the world, a traditional bazaar is the best place to experience the everyday life of the local people. If you not only want to do a sightseeing tour but also discover the culture of a country, it just is the place be. Especially in the early morning hours, before most of the tourists get up, it is a great time to walk through the ally’s and observe what is going on. Several times during my trip through Iran I, therefore, used the opportunity to get up early and just do that. During one of these wanderings through the bazaar in the city of Yazd, I was able to take this photograph.
Immediately after I entered the ally's, the wonderful smell of the freshly baked pita just magically drew me to the next bakery, where this photo was taken. But first I had to buy myself a piece of pita to take away the hunger. In the meantime I observed the bakers doing their craft, which was really fascinating. Without the help of any electronic devices, they prepare the dough, form pizza like rings and sick them against the inside walls of the stone ovens. Based on their feeling they then take them back out of the oven a couple minutes later, ready to be sold to the waiting locals.
After I finished eating mine, I got out my camera and started taking photos of the scenery. But since it was very dark and the bakers were bustling about, most of the shots were quite blurry. As I almost wanted to move on, the two elderly bakers were sitting down for a short break. I knew the perfect moment had come, and so I pressed the shutter.
