Grand Vista
Hello out there,
Standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon in the United States is just fascinating. Overlooking this massive hole in the ground is something you can see dozens of times on TV and still be amazed the first time you visit it. The dimensions are unbelievable and leave you breathless.
For me, this moment had come after a long car ride from Amarillo, where I spend the last night on a road trip through the United States. My plan was to get to Flagstaff, a city near the Grand Canyon, by the end of the day and to go inside the next morning. But since I already arrived in the late afternoon, I decided to drive right into the Park and try to get some nice photos during sunset.
Unfortunately, it took quite some time to get from Flagstaff to the National Park and therefore the sun was about to set, as I drove through the entrance gate. Quickly I parked my car and luckily found a sign nearby, which marked the path to a viewpoint. Since it was leading into a forest, I thought, it would probably take some time to get to the rim. But just a couple of seconds after entering the forest, I was already leaving it and blown away by the view I had.
I was standing right at the rim. Just magical. The golden sunset light perfectly lit the scenery. After enjoying the view for some time, I started to look for a nice scene to capture. After the sun had already set, I found probably the best perspective to convey the sheer dimensions of the canyon. So I got out my camera, adjusted the settings and just pressed the shutter.
