Taking Off
Hello out there,
Vancouver’s exquisite location, in a bay of the Pacific ocean, makes it one of the most livable places on the planet. The western Canadian metropole offers a superb combination of modern city life and recreational landscape. From just about everywhere in the city you can see the mountains and the water is usually also not too far away.
An especially great view of both of them you can have from the promenade around Canada Place and the Vancouver convention center, just a couple of minutes to walk from downtown. Here I liked to come regularly and sit down on a bench to watch the big container ships cross the bay. But just as much as watching the ships go by, I enjoyed observing, what was going on at Vancouver’s seaplane terminal, which is located just in front of the convention center.
Several small airplanes take off here every hour and head to British Columbia’s remote towns. Of course, this scene had to be captured, since the combination of the seaplane terminal and the bay in the foreground perfectly harmonized with the mountain range in the back. So I set up my camera, to be ready to capture the next flight arriving or heading off. Just a couple minutes later the moment had come and I just had to press the shutter.
