Flowing Downhill
Hello out there,
Finding views of untouched nature in central Europe has turned out to be quite difficult. Even in the Alps, where this photo was captured, it takes a lot of careful framing to get a photo without any buildings, streets and especially power poles or lines in it. To get this photo I actually had to get up the mountain on the opposite side of a valley, to have a clear view of this magnificent mountain flank.
The valley where I found this view, is located right on the border between Austria and Germany, near the town of Ehrwald. A very nice region to go skiing in the winter or to climb the mountains during the rest of the year. Latter of that, I do with a couple of friends, on an extended weekend trip, once a year. Even though I usually like to discover new places instead of revisiting the same place several times, I always look forward to this trips, since they are a lot of joy.
So as we were hiking up a narrow path to a small mountain hut, to get some cake and pastries as a reward for the torture, I kept looking on the mountains on the other side of the valley. Already from the start of our track, at the foot of the mountain, I recognized an amazing natural formation. The mountains were just perfectly aligning them self in a semicircle around a river, which cut right through them. Sadly, there were some power lines hanging halfway up the mountain, killing this wonderful view. But as we got higher and higher, they lucky were not in my field of view any longer. In addition, I suddenly saw, that there was even a waterfall, making the whole scenery even better. So I got out my camera and positioned the waterfall right in the middle of the photo, to give more weight to the natural symmetry of the mountain range. Then I just had to press the shutter.
