Discover the stories behind my photographs, captured around the world in magnificent landscapes and foreign cultures

Curvy Descent

Hello out there,

Before I visited the Grand Canyon in the western United States, there was just one view of it I had in mind. Like probably most people, which have never been there in person, I only knew the view from the rim down into this massive hole. Therefore was I very interested to discover a new perspective of this natural world wonder during my visit.

The perfect way to this new perspective turned out to be a hike down to the bottom of the canyon. Since I did not bring my hiking gear along, I was glad to find a well developed path on a map, called Bright Angel Trail, which I decided to take.

Already at the start of the trail did I recognize the wonderful variances in colors of the rocks. As I was going further down into the canyon, they turned from a tone of orange into red and then even into a kind of purple. Of course, did I get my camera out, to capture this in a photograph. I decided, to use the trail ahead of me as a leading line and tilted my camera a bit down. With having the canyon walls on either side, I could also find the desired new perspective of the Grand Canyon. Now I just had to wait, until some fellow hikers had passed by and then I just pressed the shutter.
