Baywatch Sunset
Hello out there,
The lifestyle of the people in South Africa had fascinated me the whole time during my trip through the country. Especially along the coastline, people seemed to use every opportunity to take a walk at the beach and enjoy just enjoy life, even though many still have to deal with great poverty.
Right in the middle of this trip, the above picture was taken. I was heading down the Garden Route back to Mossel Bay, where I had rented an apartment for a couple of days. The whole day I had been hiking in the Wilderness National Park and now was starving for something to eat. The sun had started to set, as I drove by a nice looking restaurant, which was beautifully located on top of a dune. So I used the next chance turn around and drove to the parking lot in between the restaurant and the beach.
Although I was really hungry, I could not resist to first walk down to the beach and to photograph the sunset. As I actually wanted to head back to the restaurant, a family walked by me with two young boys, which immediately started playing underneath a nearby Baywatch tower. This scenery now was just perfectly reflecting the South African lifestyle I mentioned before, so I got my camera out again and took this shot. Luckily the parents were fine with, so I was able to keep it.
