Abandoned Passage

Hello out there,

Finding an abandoned place in the middle of a big city always fascinates me. Especially if this place is located underneath the probably most famous sight in town, in this case, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

While being on one of my weekend trips to the Netherlands, from which I have already shared a couple of other photos with you, I also visited the countries capital.  Over the whole day, the weather had just been so good, that I actually only walked around the city the whole day and did not want to waste the sunshine within one of the very renowned museums. But after the sunset, I walked over to the Museumplein, a square, where all the exhibits are located.

Since I still was not in the mood to go inside one of them, I took a look around the square. After photographing the museums from the outside, I wanted to head back into the city center and found a shortcut by walking through a passage underneath the Rijksmuseum to the other side.

Just seconds before entering the passage, dozens of people were around me, but as soon as I entered the passage, there was complete silence. A little bit irritated and frightened, I looked back and saw that I was all by myself. Then I kept walking and started to pay attention to my surrounding. Instantly the architecture of this well-lit place amazed me. So I set up my camera. Suddenly I heard some people entering the passage right behind me. I knew, if I would not take the chance now, the atmosphere of the place would be lost. So I immediately pressed the shutter.
