Wind Shelter
Hello out there,
After leaving Durban in the afternoon, we managed to get to St Lucia all the way in the northeast of South Africa just in time for sunset. Of course, did we want to take this opportunity, after sitting in the car for several hours, to catch the last rays of sunlight and have a relaxing walk along the beach. But already in the parking lot near the beach, the scenery turned out to be not as idyllic as anticipated. Because when I was getting out of the car, a stiff breeze unexpectedly snatched the door out of my hand.
First I wanted to grab the door to close it again and stay in the car, but the ocean air felt so fresh and energizing, that we decided to get out and to the beach anyway. Surprisingly the breeze was not that intense after we passed the dune and walked along the open water. Only the flying sand was pretty annoying.
But as time passed by, the wind started to calm down and brought the sand back to the ground. Now, all the traces of previous visitors were wiped out and a wonderful silky smooth surface remained. Just at one point, were a big piece of driftwood stranded, the pattern was broken. Since it remarkably reflected the golden light of the setting sun, I decided to capture it in a photo. I choose to get down low, to emphasize the piece of driftwood with its reflections and then just pressed the shutter.
