Spinning Joy

Hello out there,

While traveling through Laos, I stopped along the way from Vientiane, the political capital, to Luang Prabang, the religious capital, in Vang Vieng. This little town is favored very much by voyagers for its broad range of activities you can do.

One of these activities was an extended hiking trip to a place called “Secret Eden”, I already read about back home. It is a truly heavenly little valley hidden behind a mountain range, where no road is going. I definitely will share a picture of it in future.

Well, on the way to the valley we came through a little village consisting of straw huts, where some girls were grinding rice like their ancestors have probably done it for generations.

I was so amazed by the joy they were having, that I stopped for a moment and just observed them. Then I turned to my guide and asked him if it would be ok to capture a photograph of this unique scenery. He responded, that they would enjoy having a picture taken of themselves. So I got my camera out of my bag but decided not to take a picture immediately and instead wait a minute until they did stop paying attention to me.

As soon as they stopped looking at me and were just doing their thing, I took this picture. Of course, they wanted to see it on the back of my camera and I showed it to them. Afterward, they were having an even better time grinding rice, as we continued our hike to the "Secret Eden".
