Worlds Edge

Hello out there,

For its size, Sri Lanka has a lot to offer. The island state south east of India is home to beautiful beaches, incredible rainforests, and spectacular mountain ranges. Especially latter one is very interesting because you can hike to the End Of The World. Of course, did reading a name like this in the guidebook instantly drew my attention and so I added right away to my itinerary.

It turned out, that the End Of The World is a cliff high above a green valley in the Horton Plains National Park and counts as one of the island's highlights. But to see the unparalleled view, you have to be an early riser. Since low hanging clouds usually block the view from midday on, you have to be at the cliff early in the morning. Taking into account the more than a one hour long drive from the nearby city of Nuwara Eliya to the park, as well as the one and a half hour long hike to the cliff, the night before turned out to be pretty short.

But as we were hiking down a slippery path through a dense forest towards a viewing platform above the cliff, I was internally bursting with excitement and not a bit tired. The minute we stepped out of the forest and to the edge of the cliff was unforgettable. The view from the End of the World was just magical and unquestionably worth capturing. So I pulled out my camera. But I decided not to point it down the cliff and instead into the direction the valley, which looked magical, with the low hanging clouds. So after dialing in the settings, I just had to press the shutter.
