Sailing Off

Hello out there,

Just across the bay from Seattle, in the northwest of the United States, is Bainbridge Island. A place that gives you the feeling of being in a sleepy village in the countryside within viewing distance of one of America's big metropolis. Just for this reason alone, it is worth taking the ferry from downtown Seattle, which brings you directly to the major village of the island which carries the same name.

From here I just walked along the streets in the eastern direction, to get a nice view of the city across the bay. Along the way, I came by all kind of very interesting houses, which seemed to be the perfect cross-section of the American society, where million dollar mansion stand right next to small huts and conservative estates to modern eco-lodges. Unfortunately, at the end of the road, there was no direct access to the beach and you could not see beyond the last row of houses.  After spending some time searching for it, I found a small gap in between two properties, I could pass through to the shore. From here I had finally the desired view across the bay.

For a couple of minutes, I was just standing on a rock enjoying the wind blowing fresh air in my face. As I looked around, I saw a sailboat heading in my direction and instantly recognized, that it would be the perfect foreground of a nice skyline photo of Seattle. So I set up my camera and as the sailboat passed by in front of me, I just had to press the shutter.
